Today, like yesterday, featured conditions in which I would much rather have taken the day off—chilly (43°), windy (14 mph from the west), and bleak, with a couple of patches of the year's first snow, highlighted by small ice crystals bouncing off my face. But then, I told myself, colder days surely lie ahead, so I'd better toughen up for it. Leavina a bit past noon, I rode the Packard/Platt Square (13.6 miles) in 1:45, to take my past another mileage milestone for the year (4800), as I close in on my goal of 5000.
